Our Church was founded in late 1994 by two Freethinking Dallas/Ft. Worth area families. They began the Church of Freethought with a $4,000 seed funding to begin operations, and in July of 1995, added another $4,000. Since then, our Church has been self-sufficient, with donations exceeding expenses, and our financial strength continues to grow.

The North Texas Church of Freethought was conceived as an alternative to the conventional faith-based religious organizations. We offer the benefits of traditional church membership to those who are uncomfortable with supernatural beliefs: community and fellowship with those of like mind, a vehicle for personal growth and fulfillment, affirmation of a naturalistic view of the world as a positive life choice for individuals and families, and a sense of belonging within the larger community.
